Gap Year Merit Award

About the Scholarship


The Gap Year Merit Award is a $2,000 award ($1,000 each fall and spring semester) for new-to-SMC students who graduated from high school in 2022 or 2023. Students who were previously dual enrolled at SMC are eligible if they have not attended SMC since graduating from high school. 

The award can be used for tuition, fees, books, housing, or other educational expenses. 

Requirements: 
  • Must have earned a 3.0 or higher high school GPA 
  • Must submit official, final high school transcript
  • Must enroll in at least nine credit hours each semester
Reminder: Make sure you apply for admission to SMC and submit your official high school transcript. We must have this information on file before you can receive a scholarship.

Enter your cumulative (unweighted) grade point average on 4.0 scale. Note: You MUST submit your official, final high school transcripts to be eligible for this award.
